OEM integration is a genuine strength here. Steering wheel media and call controls work as they did from the factory, and factory monitor readouts remain accessible via a long-press of the Menu button — no permanent loss of OEM functionality. Incoming calls through CarPlay or Android Auto are answered directly from the wheel, exactly as BMW intended.

PEMP is upfront about what this unit is not: there is no built-in GPS module, no 4G connectivity, no app sideloading, and aftermarket backup cameras must be 720p AHD or lower.
