For darker BMW paint - Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Tanzanite, Dravit - that matters, because you want lubrication and rinse behavior that help avoid adding wash marring.
I’d pick this over a stronger strip wash if the car is maintained regularly and already has some protection on it. It makes more sense for a weekly G20, F30, or E92 wash than for a neglected car with baked-on grime, old road film, or salt buildup.
