This intake kit replaces the OEM airbox on the E90, E92, and E93 M3 with an open-element setup using a 6-inch cone filter and a carbon fiber mid-pipe, fitting the S65 V8's intake tract directly. Open-lid cold air intakes on the S65 primarily improve intake sound and throttle response at wide-open throttle rather than delivering headline power numbers - the factory airbox on this engine is already reasonably well-designed, so gains are incremental. The carbon fiber mid-pipe is a better material choice than plastic for this application given underhood temperatures.
