The BMW E92 335i and M3 are both known to benefit significantly from cooling system upgrades, particularly if you're pushing the car on track or running forced induction modifications. The N54 and N55 engines in the 335i are prone to heat soak, and the factory cooling setup simply wasn't designed with sustained high-performance driving in mind. A popular first step is upgrading to a Mishimoto or CSF aluminum radiator, both of which offer substantially improved thermal capacity over the stock unit. For the S65-powered M3, an aftermarket oil cooler is essentially mandatory for track use - Setrab and Mocal are well-regarded options that bolt up cleanly. The E92 335i crowd also swears by the Wagner Tuning or Mishimoto charge air cooler to combat intercooler heat soak on spirited drives. Don't overlook the thermostat either - a Wahler or OEM-spec 80-degree unit is a simple, inexpensive win. Cooling fan clutches wear out quietly on higher-mileage cars, so inspect that component before spending money elsewhere. Address the basics first, then layer in the bigger upgrades methodically.
