This is Moroso's aluminum replacement for the factory coolant expansion tank on the E46 M3. If you've been around these cars long enough, you already know the stock plastic tank is a wear item once heat cycles and age start stacking up. This fixes the usual cracked tank and stripped neck problem with a fabricated aluminum unit that still works with the factory-style hose connections.
I'd pick this over another OE-style plastic tank if the car sees track days, hot climates, or you're just done gambling on old cooling system plastics. It makes the most sense on an E46 M3 where cooling system weak points are already well known, especially on higher-mile cars.
