The VIV TD04-17T Hybrid Twin Turbo Kit is a purpose-built Stage 3 upgrade for BMW's N54 inline-six, designed to push serious power builds on the E82/E88 135i, E60/E61 535i, and E89 Z4 sDrive35i and sDrive35is well beyond what factory hardware can support. At the heart of the kit are two fully rebuilt TD04L hybrid turbochargers — each featuring forged billet compressor wheels measuring 43/60mm (versus the stock 35.7/46mm) in a 6+6 blade configuration, paired with an upgraded nine-blade TD04L turbine wheel at 41x47mm. The result is an airflow capacity that comfortably supports 650+ horsepower depending on your supporting modifications, putting this kit in the same performance tier as Pure Stage 2 hardware at a more accessible price point.

VIV doesn't cut corners on balancing. Each turbocharger is processed through three stages — component balancing, dynamic balancing, and VSR balancing — before it leaves the factory. That level of precision matters at high boost, where even minor imbalances translate into premature bearing wear and vibration. The billet stainless steel wastegate flapper valves with thicker reinforced rods are a meaningful upgrade over the factory units, which are a well-documented failure point on high-mileage and tuned N54 builds.
